Premarital sex-Is it Moral?

Morality is a factor for many people when deciding whether or not to have premarital sex. Is it a factor for you? After all, the messages we receive from most TV shows and movies these days tell us "everyone is doing it." In light of today's permissive attitude, your peers may think you're weird to even question it.

But maybe there is something inside you, like a voice in your head, that is making you uncertain about whether or not sex before marriage is a right or wrong action. Many people refer to this voice as their conscience. How can you know if your "conscience" is right? People all around the world look to the Bible as a moral or religious book, so let's see what it says about premarital sex.

The Bible refers to premarital sex as fornication. That's a word we don't hear much these days, so what does it mean? Fornication is sexual intercourse between people who are not married to each other. The only distinction the Bible makes between premarital sex and adultery is that adultery involves married persons while fornication involves those who are unmarried. Premarital sex is just as much of a sin as adultery and all other forms of sexual immorality. They all involve having sexual relations with someone you are not married to.

The Bible explains,"...The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord of the body" (1 Corinthians 6:13). Verse 18 of this chapter goes on to say, "Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body." Galatians 5:19 speaks the same, "The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity..."Ephesians 5:3 says it most plainly,"But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper to God's holy people. "From these verses, we see that the Bible promotes complete and total abstinence from premarital-sex.

QUESTIONS:

  • Can you cite the reason why do our youth nowadays engage themselves to premarital-sex?
  • Compare the ways of youth today from the youth in the past.
  • How can this problem be solved?
  • What do you think are the motives of those people committing premarital-sex?
  • Imagine if all the people commit premarital-sex, what will happen?
  • Do you believe that it is immoral to commit premarital-sex? Why?

ESSAY: Create a paragraph about you stand in the issue of premarital sex. Do you believe that premarital sex is an immoral act or not. Explain.

The Future of Gay Marriage in America

Opponents of gay marriage appear willing to do anything at all to stop it-- and the reason is that cultural, social, and political forces in America are moving almost inexorably towards the legalization of gay marriage. Sooner or later, marriage for same-sex couples will be as legal and recognized as marriage has traditionally been for heterosexual couples. Major steps in this process have already occurred in other Western nations, and some minor steps are being made in this direction within America itself.

Opponents of gay marriage appear to recognized this--they seem to realize that the cultural, social, and political forces are against them. This is why they are so determined to enact federal laws, and perhaps even constitutional amendments, to prevent gay marriage from being recognized or legalized anywhere in the United States. If cultural, social, and political forces were on their side, this wouldn't be necessary. What is the future of gay marriage in America? Full legalization and recognition, just as is the case today with interracial and interfaith marriages.

It will take along time for this to occur--even interracial and interfaith marriages continues to be look down upon by many in America today. Not even racial integration and equality have come as far as they ideally should have. All of thee have been opposed by the same religious and political forces which currently oppose gay marriage, so there is every reason to think that they will have the same success in hindering gay marriage.

This means that even after gay marriages is legalized, social and political barriers will continue to be thrown up in front of gay couples and their supporters. In the long term, though, these barriers will fall apart because the bigotry and animosity towards gays will lose the sort of support they currently have. Perhaps progress will be even faster because of the progress made with other minorities thus far in America.

QUESTIONS:

  • Can you say something about gays?
  • Discuss the possible effects of legalizing the same-sex marriage in America.
  • Do you see some factors why same-sex marriage needs to be legalized?
  • How does Philippine culture differ from Americans?
  • Imagine if same-sex marriage would be legalized, what will be its effects?
  • If you are the one to decide, will you choose to approve or disapprove? why?

ESSAY:Gay marriage is about to be legalized in America. If there is a chance that Gay marriage will be allowed here in the Philippines, would you agree? Why and Why not?

Inexpensive dietary supplement helps to prevent birth defects

Natural News) Many medical professionals recommend that pregnant women take folic acid--also known as vitamin B9--as part of a prenatal supplement regimen designed to help ensure a healthy pregnancy. But news research out of the U.K. suggest that taking inositol along with folic acid will  greatly decrease the chance that a baby will be born with spina bifida.

Inositol is a naturally-occurring nutrient found in many common foods like meat and vegetables. In tests conducted on mice, the substance exhibited  a significant therapeutic effects that deterred the onset neural tube defects. From our experimental work we know inositol can stimulate cells in the developing embryo to proliferate more quickly, and that corrects the defect that would develop in spina bifida, "explained Dr. Nick Greene from University College London, one of the study researchers.

The human clinical trial evaluating inositol's effects on pregnancy is still underway, but preliminary results thus far are positive.

Anne Marie Hodkinson, one of the trial participants, has had good success with the supplement as she treks through her second pregnancy. Her first child was born with spina bifida despite her having taken folic acid for several years before that pregnancy. But taking inositol during her second pregnancy has helped prevent her second child from developing that disease.

The clinical trial is still underway and Dr. Greene is urging other women in the U.K. to participate. Together with folic acid, inositol appears to be a surefire way to avoid bearing children with birth defects. And if all continues to go well, the study could result in both supplements being recommended by authorities to all women of child bearing age.

Editor's Note: Natural news is strongly against the use of all forms of animal testing. We fully support the implementation of humane medical experimentation that promotes the health and well-being of all living creatures.

QUESTIONS:

  • What is inositol?
  • Compare the health benefits of taking inositol than folic acid.
  • If you will about to choose a supplement, would it be inositol or folic acid?
  • Can you explain the effect of spina befida?
  • What will happen if a pregnant woman will keep on taking folic acid?
  • How effective are these supplements?

What is Climate Change?

Climate includes patterns of temperature, precipitation, humidity, wind and seasons. "Climate change" affects more than just a change in the weather, it refers to seasonal changes over along period of time. These climate patterns play a fundamental role in shaping natural ecosystem, and the human economies and cultures that depend on them.

Because so many systems are tied to climate, a change in climate can affect many related aspects of where and how people, plants and animals live, such as food production, availability and use of water , and health risks.

For ex., a change in the usual timing of rains or temperatures can affect when plants bloom and set fruit, when insect hatch or when streams are their fullest. This can affect historically synchronized pollination of crops, food for migrating birds, spawning of fish, water supplies for drinking and irrigation, forest health, and more

Some short term climate variation is normal, but longer term trends now indicate a changing climate. A year or two of an extreme change in temperature or other condition doesn't mean a climate trend has been "erased."

Worldwide, people are paying serious attention to climate change. In Washington  state, climate change is already disrupting our environment, economy and communities. we can help sloe it down, but we must takr action now.

QUESTIONS:

  • What is climate change?
  • Who do you think were the ones to be blamed in this problem?
  • What factors in your lifestyle would you change to help in solving climate change?
  • What do you see as other possible outcomes if climate change continuous?
  • Can you develop a project to solve the problems in climate change?

What is Dyslexia?

Dyslexia has been around for a long time and has been defined in different ways. For ex., on 1968, the World Federation of Neurologist defined as "a disorder in children who,  despite conventional classroom experience, fail to attain the language skills of reading, writing, and spelling commensurate with their intellectual abilities."
According to the U.S. National Institute of Health, dyslexia is a learning disability that can hinder a person's ability to read, write, spell, and sometimes speaks. Dyslexia is the most common learning disability in children and persists throughout life. The severity of dyslexia can vary from mild to severe. The sooner dyslexia is treated, the more favorable the outcome; however, it is never too late for people with dyslexia to learn to improve their language skills.

Children with dyslexia have difficulty in learning to read despite traditional instruction, at least average intelligence, and an adequate opportunity to learn. It is cause by an impairment in the brain's ability to translate image received from the eyes or ears into understandable language. It does not result from vision or hearing problems. It is not due to mental retardation, brain damage, or a lack of intelligence.

Dyslexia can go undetected in the early grades of schooling. The child can become frustrated by the difficulty in learning to read, and other problems can arise that disguise dyslexia. The child may show signs of depression and low self-esteem. Behavior problems at home as well as at school are frequently seen. The child may become unmotivated and develop a dislike for school. The child's success in school may be jeopardizes if the problem remains untreated.

QUESTIONS:

  • What is Dyslexia?
  • Compare the definition of dyslexia stated by WFN from USNIH?
  • Classify the variation of dyslexia.
  • What are the problems that will occur if a child has dyslexia?
  • What are the  learning activities can be employed in order to cure dyslexia?
  • Do you believe that dyslexia can be cured? defend your answer.

True or False
  • Dyslexia is known as writing disability.
  • Dyslexia can go undetected in the early grades of schooling.
  • Dyslexia is a result from vision or hearing problems.
  • All Dyslexia cases are severe.
  • Dyslexia is due to mental retardation, brain damage, or lack of intelligence.

How STD's Spread?

One reason STD's spread is because people think they can only be infected if they have sexual intercourse. That'a wrong. A person can get some STD's, like herpes or genital warts, through skin-to-skin contacts with an infected area or sore.

Another myth about STD's i s that you can't get them if you have oral or anal sex. That's also wrong because the viruses or bacteria that cause STD's can enter the body through tiny cuts or tears in the mouth and anus, as well as the genitals.

STD's also spread easily because you can't tell whether someone has an infection. In fact, some people with STD's don't even know that they have them. These people are in danger of passing an infection on to their sex partners without even realizing it.

Some of the things increase a person's chances of getting an STD are:

  • Sexual activity at young age. The younger a person starts having sex, the greater his or her chances of becoming infected with an STD.
  • Lots of sex partners. People who have sexual contact-not just intercourse, but any form of intimate activity with many different partners are more at risk than those who stays with same partners.
  • Unprotected sex. Latex condoms are the only form of birth control that reduces your risk of getting an STD, and must be used every time. Spermicides, diaphragms, and other birth control methods may help prevent pregnancy, but they don't protect a person against STD's.

  • Create one graphic organizer that will show the cause and effect of committing premarital sex.

Premarital Sex-Is it Safe Physically and Emotionally?

Another consideration when deciding about premarital sex is safety. Did you know that 50% of the people who currently have HIV are between the ages of 15 and 24? Using a condom only reduces the risk of contracting HIV by 85%. Condoms do not significantly reduces the risk of contracting other sexually transmitted diseases. take these statistics into consideration when making your decision.

Most people don't consider the emotional effects of premarital sex. You see, sex is an emotional experience and it affects our lives in ways we don't understand. After engaging in premarital sex, many express feeling of guilt, embarrassment, distrust, resentment, lack of respect, tension, and so much more. As you read the next section, consider God's love for you as a primary reason for sexual purity. God does not want you to experience unnecessary emotional pain!

QUESTIONS:

  • Do you think premarital sex is safe emotionally and physically?
  • Discuss the possible effect of premarital sex.
  • From the information given, can you see a clear solution with this problem?
  • What are the other problems that might occur in the case of premarital sex?
  • Write your feeling about those people in pain because of it.
  • How would you feel if you know a person whose been doing these thing? discuss.

Child Labor in the Philippines

Child labor is one of the most rampant problems in the Philippines and one of the many concerns that the Philippine Government needs to focus on. I do believe that a child has the right to receive the most basic necessities in life. As a human being these children also need education, shelter, healthy environment, loving family and most importantly a home which they can call their own and yet its poverty which hinders them to achieve any of those things and forces them to work in the busy streets, farming fields, factories, mining caves at a very young age.

Child labor refers to illegal employment of children below 18 years old. Most underage children forced to labor to support their poor families due to poverty. Because of child labor, children suffer from malnutrition. Instead of killing their time in a classroom these children were rather roam around the streets and risking their lives just to earn enough money for their families.

QUESTIONS:
  • What is child labor?
  • Describe the life of those children that has forced to work.
  • Have you experienced to work at young age?
  • What are the reasons behind this child labor?
  • According to the report, can you create a concrete rescue to those children whose been abuse of child labor?
  • Do you think it is good or bad for a child to be exposed to work at early age?

The U.S. and Climate Change

The United States has been criticized at the U.N. gatherings for years, in part because of its rejection of the Kyoto framework and in part because it has not adopted a comprehensive domestic program for reducing its own greenhouse gas emissions. President Obama has pledged to reduce American emissions 17 percent below 2005 levels by 2020, but his preferred approach, a nationwide cap-and-trade system for carbon pollution, was passed by the House in 2009 but died in the Senate the next year. United States emissions are down about 6 percent over the past five years, largely because of the drop in industrial and electricity production caused by the recession.

In January 2011, the Environmental Protection Agency began imposing regulations related to greenhouse gas emissions. The immediate effect on utilities, refiners and major manufacturers was minor, with the new rules applying only to those planning to build large new facilities or make major modifications to existing plants. Over the next decade, however, the agency plans to regulate virtually all sources of greenhouse gases, imposing efficiency and emissions requirements on nearly every industry and every region.

QUESTIONS:
  • Who was the one who pledged to reduce American emission by 17% below?
  • How Greenhouse effect differs from global warming?
  • How can Americans be able to help in reducing the greenhouse effect?
  • Why did Climate change occur?
  • What will happen if climate change gets even worst?
  • Do you believe that there is still hope for the U.S. to fight climate change?

The Ice-Cream Cone

The inventor of the ice-cream cone is not known, although claims abound. There is ample evidence that the concept existed in several forms long, before the debut of the cone at the
St. Louis World's Fair in 14904. The benefit of the cone was that the ice cream container could be eaten, yet if one is to accept the research of Brian Butko (2001), there was considerable resistance to the idea when it first attracted public attention. Hygiene was one reason, sticky fingers another. The public perception of ice cream was that it should be clean, like milk itself, a food that was both basic and culturally defining. The ice cream parlor and the drugstore soda fountain probably did more to help the ice cream cone gain acceptability in the long run, but it was the carefully wrapped ice cream snacks of the 1920's that eventually captured the market.

That ice cream should assume its hallowed place beside the drug counter during Prohibition may seem at first glance the most remarkable of fates, but it was the original idea that the ice cream was both safe and healthy that allowed it to invade the domain of the local apothecary.
Temperance instilled Americans with love of drugs as a substitute for luxury: patent medicines were mostly alcohol, and the tempering qualities of  ice cream were not known to cause a Fourth of July picnic to degenerate into debauchery. Perhaps this is one reason why American ice cream evolved into yet another branch of frozen snacks during the 1920's. Perhaps it was also due to a shift in lifestyles and altruistic spin-offs geared toward Hollywood and a need to provide movie theaters with frozen finger foods. Whatever the reason, one of the most important additions to ice cream story arrived in the form of ice cream "novelties," to use a term then current.

QUESTION:

  • How will you describe an ice cream cone?
  • Compare each evident of the claimers in inventing the ice cream cone.
  • Do you prefer eating ice cream in a cone or in a cup?
  • What was the problem with eating the ice cream cone?
  • How many ways can you enjoy the ice cream cone?
  • What do you think could happen if no one invented the ice cream cone

  • Create your own design of an ice cream cone, the design should be unique then describe each detail of the cone. Discuss why you will enjoy eating ice cream with that cone.
